Pear Display Cabinet

Swiss Pear display cabinet on a Bubinga stand.

The cabinet is concave shaped with two curved asymetric doors. Each door has three glass panels, all of which are different widths. Inside the cabinet are two glass shelves, with the height of the upper shelf being adjustable. The back panel of the cabinet is constructed using frame and panel technology, with the frame in Swiss Pear and the panels in Arbutus. Each of the 6 panels is a different size, with the widths of the panels matching the 6 glass panels in the doors. The cabinet is mounted on a stand constructed from Bubinga. The stand is curved to match the cabinet, and the cabinet "floats" above the stand on some hidden support brackets.

This piece was inspired by a cabinet made by James Krenov.
