This coffee table is constructed using bent and tapered laminations. This is one of my production pieces and is available as a commission in a wide range of woods. I originally designed the table while taking a class with Michael Fortune at Rosewood Studio and then built the first two of them while I was a student at Inside Passage, one out of Ash, and one out of Bubinga. I currently have a couple more tables under way, one using Black Cherry and one using Black Walnut. No pictures are available yet for those.
This picture details how the stretchers are connected to the legs using exposed mortise and tenon joinery. The tenons pass all the way through the legs and the ends of the tenons are pillowed to give a nice appearance and an interesting texture when you touch them.
Contact me if you'd like to purchase one of these tables.Ash.
